Plum Blossom Room: Yum Cha (Dim Sum) in Taipei
January 5, 2010 in Food, Taiwan, Travel
Restaurant: Plum Blossom Room
Food: Yum Cha, Cantonese Cuisine
Address: Level 2-3, Brother Hotel, 255, Section 3 Nanking East Road
Opening: 9am – 9:30pm
We were supposed to visit Naturestar Yum Cha Restaurant on Nanking East Road (Section 3), but it just happened to be closed for stove restorations that afternoon.
Accordingly, we went to the Yum Cha restaurant called Plum Blossom Room at Brother Hotel next door. From the outside, it looks like one of those typical Chinese restaurants in hotels where people have their wedding banquets. And sure enough, it is one of those places.

We went around 3 or 4 in the afternoon, when they did not push around the trolleys/carts to your table. Instead, we had to go through the menu and order.
Their Dim Sum selection was not as varied as I would have liked, but they did have a lot of other dishes, noodles, rices and soups. However, we were there for Yum Cha, so apart from a fried rice we only ordered Dim Sums.
Overall, a bit of a disappointment. Both the variety and the flavour were below the standard I was expecting from an expensive hotel. Bear in mind, this is an expensive hotel, so the quality at least meets a minimum standard, but Naturestar’s Yum Cha is definitely better and more delicate. 5 out of 10!
How to get there
Take the brown line on the MRT to Nanking East Road Station. Follow the signs at the station – a short walk but should be very easy. For full details check out the maps at the Brother Hotel website here.
